Mirage is a medium assassin and a bodyguard for the Djinn who can show up almost anywhere on the map. When this guide was recorded he had the lowest win rate of all 44 heroes: 43.7% over 158,716 matches in the previous seven days, across all ranks, per the Deadlock API. Those numbers move with every patch, so treat them as a snapshot.

The argument of the video is that players judge him by his lane and ignore what he is actually good at: macro.

His kit

  • Fire Scarabs (35s cooldown, 2 charges): steals 8 health per second for 5 seconds and the target deals 20% less damage. In lane, plan your trades around them.
  • Dust Devil (36s cooldown): travel forward as a whirlwind that slows and lifts enemies, then grants 30% bullet evasion for 4 seconds. It's a really good escape.
  • Djinn's Mark: your shots apply marks, up to 4 (5 with the tier 3 upgrade), and the active cashes in every mark. The video calls this "not the point" of Mirage.
  • Traveler (ultimate, 140s cooldown): after a 3 second wait you teleport to any spot on the minimap. Damage or stuns interrupt it, and you land with a 400 barrier.

Where he wins

Split pushing. While the enemy groups up, they send people after you; you teleport to the other side and push the lane nobody is defending.

Ganking. Clear your wave, pressure your lane, then teleport in to sandwich the enemy. The video's example is a 3 versus 2 from mid: teleport in, win the fight, push the objective.

Soloing Walkers. When five enemies hit your Walker and your team holds them back, you take theirs.

Item note. The video highlights Ricochet, a tier 4 weapon item at 6,400 souls: bullets bounce to 2 nearby enemies for 65% of the damage, procs included, plus 18% fire rate.

Beginner tips

  1. Play around your ultimate. Know where you'll use Traveler before it comes off cooldown.
  2. Always watch the map. Your power is knowing where a fight or an empty lane is.
  3. Trade around your Scarabs. In lane, use them to win trades and heal.
